Pincer Grasp

I've not been working on finger foods quite as much as I probably should be. It's a little hard, because when we feed him foods to experiment with we want them to be really cooked/mushy. But, when I make food for him I usually make a whole bunch at once - and usually only once a week or so.

Nonetheless, we give him exposure to it when we can.

I usually give him just a small handful of puffs to mess with while I prepare his meal. He plays with them for a minute or two, figuring them out. I usually feed him one to make sure he knows it's food, then he'll start working on grabbing them in his little fist and finding ways to get them into his mouth. But, today, he very purposefully watched his hand, and the puff at task, to squeeze it between his little thumb and forefinger (after a few tries), then carefully lifted it towards his mouth (watching it with his eyes the whole time) and put it in.

Just like that, he used the pincer grasp for the first time.

This was the best picture I managed to get:

It's so exciting watching him learn! I love this stage so much, because he's still my squishy and cuddly baby, but he's learning new things every day and has a very small amount of independence.
