A Year of Memories (2)

As I mentioned last year, I'm sure many of these came out in other posts. But here's some things that stand out concentrated in one area :)
  • Nolan became an 'actual' walker at 13 months old. Which is what I deem, able to walk around in public places without us hovering for a fall-down. He was easily walking across rooms in the house at 11/12 months.
  • For a solid month, he had a total zombie walk thing going on. Hands straight out, legs barely bending, wobbling around carelessly.
  • He started recognizing letters at 15 months old. At 21 months old he recognized the entire alphabet.
  • At 17 months old he started regularly using a fork.
  • Anytime he sees a dog he first calls in "Aiko." Then calls it a dog. Then says "woof-woof." Every. Time.
  • He says "Hey Sweetie" like it's just a common greeting. Never fails to be hilarious when he says it to old people walking on the trail.
  • He can jump from a stand-still.
  • Frequently he says, "Where did it go?" with his little hands up in a question gesture. Having no idea what he's referencing I usually just repeat the question back to him. When he finds whatever it was that was lost, he enthusiastically shouts, "There it is!"
  • He fell down the stairs and it was one of the scariest things that happened to date.
  • At 23 months old he started learning sight words. He has since, learned many of them quickly. He's up to "reading" 25 sight words!
  • He fell forward while sitting backwards in one of his chairs, smacking forehead first onto the edge of a cube shelf, creating a 3/4 inch gash in his head. It was another scary thing. After 4 hours of monitoring and two doctors, he wasn't suspected of a brain injury and even the cut was left untouched - docs decided no stitches/glue.
  • He often makes the sounds from the animals that we're eating (i.e. "Chicken! Bok-bok!) Yeah...
  • Sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night, and just says like every word he knows. Just jabbering away in there. I guess trying to chase away boredom. Eventually he goes back to sleep though.
