Hilarious news about that: Yesterday at the park someone asked me how old Nolan was. I answered, "He's two." To which they said, "How many months?"
For real? Is this a I'm-new-to-parenting thing that I'm not understanding? I thought calling him a 23 month old felt excessive. Their child was 29 months old, by the way.
Nolan's much the same as he was a month ago - ha. I'm guessing my blog posts will start getting shorter, because he isn't going to be changing quite as quickly as before. They might (gasp) even drop down to quarterly posts or funny stories, etc.
It's just that, I'm a documenter. I don't want to miss a thing! And this is basically my baby book, so, if I slow down on posts I'm sure it'll be a weaning process for me. lol
We were sick after our MO trip. The usual two weeks of snot, mucus, coughs and overall crumminess. I always feel so bad for him. Heck, I can pop a Sudafed to help with my symptoms, poor kids can't have hardly anything. Saline sprays, essential oils, and diffusers. It just sucks. It's every time.

Nolan's been showing pretty steady signs that he's ready for either a shorter nap or an extended evening. Even though, based on his age he shouldn't be quite yet. He's been pretty regularly waking up 30-60 minutes early from his nap time. However, he still often enough sleeps the entire duration. So, I'm not sure what I'll do. But, I'm leaning towards shortening the nap by a half hour, to start out.
He's been increasingly becoming a pickier eater. We've always given him a fair variety of foods, in my opinion. And when he was younger he'd eat just about anything. I can see how kids get to a place of just eating chicken nuggets and hotdogs. Though, I'm not going to let that be an option for him, I'm just saying, I can see how it happens. He does get turkey dogs 2(ish) times a week, and sometimes I feel like that's not a great thing. Hilariously, I have offered chicken nuggets (just a few times) and he doesn't like them. So, definitely not going to push it.
He use to be a big fan of grilled chicken or PB&Js. Not much anymore. About the only vegetable he's eating right now is green beans and sometimes carrots and not large amounts of either. Oof. He will eat salsa, surprisingly. Which is okay. Especially because he'll even skip the chips and go right for it. Buh. But, hey, he's getting some tomatoes, peppers, and onions out of the deal. Now just to keep it low sodium.
No problems with fruit - big surprise there.
He drinks water like crazy, it's the drink he asks for more times than not. So, no problems there either. I'm about to wean out whole milk, too.
He does, on occasion, get some juice now. We have a pancake breakfast every Sunday morning, and daddy's always drinking orange juice. Out of a clear cup! So, of course Nolan then wants some. So... every Sunday he gets a couple of ounces of orange juice now.
Remember how when he use to do something funny he'd say, "I silly!" Well, now he says, "I punny." And it is so hilarious. Or if you do something that makes him laugh he'll say, "You're punny." Impressive use of pronouns, eh?
He's started kicking a ball much better. And can throw rocks surprisingly far sometimes.
He loves to jump and bounce and dance and be silly.
And I still say he's the sweetest thing there ever was. Such a little sweet heart.
He called me "Cutie Pie" a few days ago and melted my heart. Of course he just repeats things we call him, but still.
I also frequently say, "You're such a mess" when he does something silly or hilarious. So, of course, he called me a mess the other day. And, of course, I laughed and so then he said, "I punny." lol
I'm tellin ya, our days are filled with a wealth of laughter.
To counter that, I think I've probably been seeing a spike in attitude. To be honest it's a good thing - development wise. By the time they hit two, they're suppose to be developing independence, and so by nature some defiance. I'm using all my same strategies and like usual it never lasts long. It's just been an increase in how often it's appearing.
I'm not sure if I'm still worried about his language or not. Maybe a little. He has some three word sentences and an impressive vocabulary, but he's still pretty hard to understand. I'll probably bring it up at his 2 year wellness visit next week. Not that that's gotten me anywhere in the past, but we'll see.
