This morning Nolan had his speech evaluation. I've been saying he's needed this since he was 18 months old (over a year ago).
In my humble opinion it wasn't much of an "evaluation."
The therapist let Nolan play with a basket of cars (the perfect toy distraction, for him) and asked Cory and I a bunch of questions about his language.
The end.
Her interactions with Nolan were very minimal. He is back into a shy/stranger danger thing, and she acted as though she didn't want to test his comfort level with that, but still. It sort of felt like she just took our word for it.
Which is fine, we answered the questions with blunt honesty, I was just expecting something more, I guess.
She asked him a few things, and wrote down things he said, and that was about it. Short and sweet.
Nonetheless, by some standard, she did agree that Nolan could benefit from some therapy to improve his speech.
I was, more or less, hoping for this. I'm all about early intervention. And, really, I'm still pretty frustrated that our physician waited this long to address my concerns. Had this all been done a year ago when I first voiced the issue, he could likely be finished with therapy and over the speech problem.
Anyway...
Onward to speech therapy.
I'll keep you posted.
