We have quite the little ornery bug on our hands. I love it, but sometimes I think about throwing him in the ocean. (joke, people... joking)
He's such a curious little guy. Nosin around, always gotta be in your business.
He loves his daddy (like, we might be tied now) these days. It was funny over this past weekend, I watched Cory sneak away down the hall to go to the bathroom.
He wasn't sneaky enough though, and the tiny clomps of Nolan's shoes were quick behind him. I heard Cory laugh, but he also said, "I can't even get a minute."
That is truth. It doesn't matter what we're doing, Nolan wants to be up in the middle of it all the time.
He's still rearranging the house. I still find it comical. Though, we are short a few things. However, it's mostly under control now that we know he was throwing them in the trash can.
I did give him much more practice with a spoon this month and I think his skills in feeding himself have improved. Nowhere near being able to sit something on his tray and have him do it all by himself. But, he certainly has the concept down of, hey I need to jab my spoon back into the bowl for another bite (video on the YouTube channel).
He's trying really hard to figure out how to run. He hasn't really perfected it though. He basically just walks really fast whenever he tries to run.
He can take several steps backwards. Like if he's standing in front of me and I'm moving forward, he'll take steps backwards to stay in front of me.
This kid falls down so much. It's hilarious. He just does not pay attention to his feet at all. Just yesterday he slammed his face into the side of his ball pit, totally face planted on the hardwood, and fell flat to his back after running into the couch. He's crazy clumsy. It's funny.
I worked on some sensory things over the past few weeks. He enjoyed that a lot. I even got him to color a bit, which he hadn't shown interest in until a week or so ago.
His pointing is awesome now! He points at everything. If he wants it, or wants you to see it, that little finger shoots right at it. Our work has paid off ;)
His language. What can I say? Call me a worry-wart, but I still don't think it's where it could be. Note that I said could and not should, because according to any doctor you ask, they basically aren't going to worry that much about it unless your kid isn't saying anything at all.
So a mere 5(ish) words are all that's requested of Nolan's age range.
He says: mom/mama, dad/dada, uh-oh, duh (duck), whoa, dat (that), buh (for book), buh (for ball too), and as of last night he said aitch (H). An important note for when he said 'aitch' is that he was handing me his foam H letter. Pretty sweet.
His communicative language consists of sign language (all done, eat, diaper), shaking his head yes and/or no, and pointing.
Having said all of that, it sounds silly to a lot of people that I'm worried about his language. But, his language still seems pretty flakey to me. Plus the lack of being able to fully pronounce some of those words. The "kuh" sound is one he should be able to make, but notice it's lacking for duck, book, etc.
Ask a doc about this regarding your 15-month-old though and they look at you like you're insane. So... guess we'll just see how he progresses.
He's still very involved in his shapes. He loves doing the shape sorter. Circle is his favorite. He also really loves the bath time foam letters, so that's a pretty nice teaching opportunity for me and Cory. We're always pointing out what letter he's holding and showing him the letters in his name, etc.
He can follow a few simple commands: go get a book, show daddy a flower (outside), get your bear. He can also notice some things in books now too. If I ask him to point to a ball or flower or something he's familiar with in a book, he usually will do it correctly.
The fit throwing is much the same. Probably on the verge of earning him his first butt swat, but hasn't yet. Those stomping little feet just cut straight through my patience. I've always had a low tolerance for tantruming. But, I keep it together and I'm still ignoring it for the most part. I have started holding his feet to the floor while saying, "Keep your feet still" and explaining why whatever he's mad about is / isn't happening. If he tantrums beyond that, he gets completely ignored.
He's also rapidly approaching an age where some form of time outs can happen. If our play pen was still set up, I'd probably have already started them. But, he's not quite at a point of being able to understand what a sit down time out is just yet.
Lately, we've been running into a lot of other kids Nolan's age (give or take a month), and the other parents are always amazed at Nolan's age, because he's so much smaller than most kids. But, we also ran into the cutest little girl one day that was just a few weeks younger than him and she was actually smaller than him. They were so precious together.
Something else, is how much he already mimics are actions! Like, he watches us do these things so he tries to do them. Things like putting on socks/shoes, brushing hair, taking a screw driver over to a screw (!), putting lids on things, etc. It's so funny how much he notices and then tries.

I don't have percentages for his size yet, because his 15 month wellness visit is tomorrow, but I'll post them after the appointment.
As always, some pictures :)
Had our MO trip last month, and pawpaw James picked us up from airport
Eh... but airplanes
And airports
He's got some cousins that sure do love him
Little mooch. I have to keep the grapes there now, because every time the door opens he's runnin for it to get one.
He gets into my wallet on a regular basis
He's pretty obsessed with coffee since this incident (no, I don't give it to him)
Coloring
Beach! Ah, yeah.
For real though, he hated the feel of sand on his feet. What a priss ;)
Gettin better with that spoon
Lol. Baby pot bellies are the best. He was screamin at the ducks...
He brings us books on a regular basis to read. I love that he likes books so much. Hope he keeps that interest.
He likes Aiko. She does not like him.
He tries to eat the mulch. Sigh.
If you leave a paper product within his reach... it will be destroyed.
Love
Goofy face, but loved that he turned around and waved at me.
