Monday evening we went to the Breastfeeding Class offered by St. Francis. They have a series of very beneficial classes that they just started doing last year. It's funny though, I graduated college with my degree in Child Development/Family Studies and know most of this stuff and yet I still enjoy going to these classes. Then, you have young/first-time parents that probably should go to these classes and don't.
It was a little more basic than I'd hoped. But, I did learn some new things. My husband acted like a child. Some things were apparently just too funny for him. Of course, that made me laugh too. So then we're both sitting back there laughing like idiots. I'm sure the lady got flustered with us a few times.
I won a manual breast pump. I never win anything so that was cool. Hilariously, a friend had just given me the same one she'd gotten from her breastfeeding class.
I did learn about some local places that are wonderful resources for breastfeeding moms that I wouldn't have even thought of. So, that was cool.
I was nervous when I walked into this class and there were baby dolls though. Ha! But, they were just for if you wanted to practice some of the different positions.
Not too bad. I'd recommend it to mom's wanting to breastfeed.
