Last night we had our infant care class, it was another really fun one. I didn't learn anything I didn't already know, but watching Cory in that class was priceless. It was so great how they made you handle the dolls like they were real. Cory got to practice swaddling and diaper changing and a few comforting/holding techniques to soothe an upset baby. It was so precious.
The class mainly covered things like that. They went over what to expect right after the baby is born (from the baby - like appearance, procedures, etc.). They talk about circumcision procedures and what to expect with that. They went through a bunch of infant actions/signs to be aware of. They stressed that you can't spoil a baby and really should hold and cuddle them frequently and especially when they're upset. You can spoil a child, but not a baby... not a young baby anyway. It's so important to build those secure attachments.
They went over things like taking temperature, giving medicine, using the bulb syringe, feedings, sleeping, ... all that good stuff.
It was another one that I think was very beneficial for the hubs. And, we got to meet two more Labor and Delivery nurses!
The only remaining classes are the Comfort During Labor and Infant Message (which isn't until after birth).
