Nolan has changed so much this past year. He looks more and more like a small adult, taking away those trace amounts of baby left in his features. His cheeks aren't as round, his body is more slender, and he's grown almost five inches - even if he remains in the 30th percentile.
His personality has changed, too. When he makes his mind up about something, he'll stubbornly stick to it at all costs. I've seen his timidness diminish a bit, though, he's still shy at times. He stands up for himself more, which in a lot of ways I'm glad to see. Kid used to be a total push-over. But, ya know, balancing the two is also good ;)
He loves to make us laugh and does so frequently. He's very silly - a trait I hope he keeps forever. I love seeing his sweet side, too. And if he loves you, you'll see it often.
Anxiety continues to shadow a fair amount of activities for Nolan. I'm not sure the root cause of this, but new and unfamiliar things cause him quite a bit of worry. He's able to recognize some of his triggers and talk through them now, which helps quite a bit.
We've had somewhat of an unhealthy year - also not a new thing. He's struggled with asthma flare ups quite a bit, and has had strep a bizarre number of times since October. Kid's a trooper. I am thankful they're only minor illnesses though, even if they are all the time.
He's done really well at Kindergarten. I do love his school and it's refreshing how well-rounded of an experience it is. A lot of independence is fostered at school. It's impressive how much of it carries over into our home. He cleans up after himself quite often - puts his shoes aways without being asked, cleans up after himself at meal times, if he spills something or makes a mess he cleans it up. It's pretty cool. I'm grateful he gets to experience this type of school setting.
Onward to Nolan stuff:
He still loves LEGOs. They're taking over my house. We should buy stock in it.
He loves Minecraft. It's something of an obsession. I could tell you it wasn't a whole family affair, but that would be a lie. We all love it.
His favorite foods remain pizza and turkey sandwiches - and probably cotton candy on account of a cotton candy maker he got a few weeks ago.
His favorite colors are blue and gold. (hey, go Preds!)
He loves to go bowling. And he wants to start the bowling league in the Fall.
He continues to enjoy karate, and can't wait to get his gold belt!
That's all for now. Here are some pictures:
