About the baby:
As you begin week 13, your first trimester ends and your second trimester of pregnancy begins! Your placenta has developed and is providing your baby with oxygen, nutrients, and waste disposal. The placenta also produces the hormones progesterone and estrogen, which help to maintain the pregnancy.
By now, the baby's eyelids have fused together to protect the eyes as they develop.
Your baby may also be able to put a thumb in his or her mouth this week, although the sucking muscles aren't completely developed yet, your baby will be fascinated with his or her growing limbs and find much entertainment in them.
The baby's looking more human now with a head that's only 1/3 the size of its body - we want some disproportion for that healthy brain!
Last week in my 1st trimester! How crazy!
Still getting random bouts of nausea! Gah! However, nothing like before, so that's something. I'm also still quite tired most of the time.
I've been getting - what I'm assuming to be - stretching/growing pains in my lower abdomen and it's pretty frustrating. Not really painful, but definitely uncomfortable. Also, the skin around the abdomen, and even my boobs, is getting itchy. I'm guessing that's from stretching too :/
I flipped through all my pictures today and was pretty shocked to see my pre-baby picture compared to this week's picture. It seems a little crazy that I've only gained 2 pounds.
I've already been having frequent and strange dreams that I remember. It's funny how that's one of the things I always heard about (crazy dreams while pregnant), and it seems to be true - for me at least.
I'm getting very anxious about finding out if we're having a boy or girl! Even though that's not until the end of this month!
I've had two dreams about a boy, and for the longest time before ever even getting pregnant I believed that our first baby would be a boy. Also, some church people (before we were pregnant) mentioned a baby boy to me as well.
However, with Cory's unfailing, persistent guess that we're having a girl… I've started to lean towards that. I do really love pink ;)
I've heard so many women say they just knew. Motherly intuition or something.
I don't really have that. All I have is guesses. Lol. I suppose that's all anyone really has.
Gah! I just can't wait to find out and start buying stuff and start getting the room ready! :)
