16 Weeks

About the baby:

At 16 weeks your little resident is having a major growth spurt - and your uterus is rapidly expanding to accommodate that growth. Get ready, mom, it might be time to embrace the comfort of maternity pants if you haven't already.

Your baby can hold his or her head erect and move it around freely now, and the development of facial muscles allows for a variety of expressions. Your baby's eyes are still closed, but the good news is they've moved to more in front of the head and are much closer to the correct location on the face.

They're little heart is beating, beating, beating! Pumping blood to all of those rapidly growing parts!

Geez, I'm at 16 weeks already?! This is flying by for me!

I've been feeling so much better! I haven't had any nausea at all (knock on wood), I have some energy back, I'm not near as cranky!

Now, if I could just get a handle of the bladder/pelvis I'd definitely be embracing the 'golden trimester.'

It is definitely about time to embrace the maternity pants I think. I can still wear most of my jeans, but sometimes I have to do the rubberband trick, and even then they aren't all that comfortable. I'm a little nervous, because I weighed again today and according to my scale I haven't gained anymore past the 2 pounds. Doc said once I hit 2nd trimester I should be looking at 0.5-to-0.7 pounds per week (for the beginning of it). And since I'm three weeks into the 2nd tri and I haven't had any vomiting or nausea... I guess I just worry about it. It makes me wonder if Lovebug's okay and growing okay, etc.

Of course, I've been sick with other stuff though! Gah! I've had a terrible terrible sore throat and super congested sinuses. The cold has resulted in coughing and wheezing too. We all know how well my lungs are, so breathing has been a real challenge. However, it all started last Wednesday and today I already noticed a lot of improvement. Hopefully it isn't sticking around much longer! Usually when I get sick like this, it's the beginning of my ridiculous string of sicknesses that last from the Fall until the Spring. I seriously hope I can manage to avoid that this season.

We've had the stress and inconvenience of another kidney stone attack with Cory. Poor guy! I hate it for him so much! Hopefully the thing will pass soon! Geez, he's never had one stick around like this before…

We're planning our gender reveal party! Yay! I'm so so sooooo excited! We're having it this Sunday afternoon. Of course, it's dependent on if they can in fact tell us if Lovebug's a boy or girl on Friday. I'm certain they'll be able to :-)

After a lot of brainstorming, we've finally agreed on how we'll do the family reveal! Of course, I can't tell you ;)   But, I'm sure you'll all know by Monday-ish :)
