14 Weeks

About the baby:

By week 14, some fine hairs have developed on your baby's face. This soft colorless hair is called lanugo, and it will eventually cover most of your baby's body to protect it - it will shed just before delivery.

By now, your baby's genitals have fully developed, though they may still be difficult to detect on an ultrasound examination. However, it's becoming increasingly more accurate to differentiate as early as 14 weeks! In addition, your baby starts to produce thyroid hormones because the thyroid gland has matured.

Your baby is strengthening those little muscles by kicking and moving around a lot, becoming more flexible and stronger every day. Baby's can make facial expressions as all of their muscles continue to develop and strengthen. So your little one can already frown, squint, grimace, and smile.

Get ready for an impressive growth spurt! Over the next month your baby will triple in length and grow to reach the one pound mark! Remember, though, the baby's weight isn't the only extra bit you're carrying around. That growing uterus filled with amniotic fluid and placenta makes up quite a bit! Just remember to eat healthier and snack often, and get in that exercise where you can.

You're probably showing much more as the uterus' growth has pushed out over the pelvic bone. Are you ready for lots of people to touch your belly all the time? If not, start preparing now.

The nausea has eased up considerably! I've only had very random bouts of it and they don't seem to last long. I'm still tired all the time though.

The irritability isn't as bad right now either. I'm sure the hubs is thankful for that ;)

I'm still having the bladder pain, and I've started getting some pelvis bone pain which makes me nervous. I've been so hopeful that my pelvis would do find throughout this, but it getting stabs of pain already has me a little stressed. It sucks that they can't take an x-ray to see what the alignment is. They've gotten my hips within a half inch of being re-aligned. Seems to be where it's staying too :/

The only real benefit of knowing would be to take into consideration my labor options. Even though, I'm definitely pro-labor/delivery. I want to avoid a c-section if at all possible.

Still having crazy vivid dreams! I wake up from them several times a night. I should start writing some of them down! They're pretty weird.

Clothes are getting tighter everyday! :)  This is the only time I'm allowed to be excited about that right? lol  I am excited to have a more distinguished baby bump though! I feel like I'm in that awkward transition to getting to the baby bump.

More and more people are noticing though ;)

I think (think) my weight gain is to about 2 1/2 - 3 pounds. I just weighed on my bathroom scale though, which isn't as accurate as the WiiFit or doctor's office.

I'm getting more and more excited everyday! I talk to the baby all the time! So does Cory, and it's just so precious! Just think of how I'll be when the baby can actually hear thing! :)
