About the baby:
In week 24, your baby is still receiving oxygen through the placenta. But once birth occurs, his or her lungs will start taking in oxygen on their own. In preparation for that, your baby's lungs are developing the ability to produce surfactantAnd the respiratory bronchioles and alveolar ducts have developed in your baby's lungs. Surfactant is a substance that keeps the air sacs in our lungs from collapsing and sticking together when we exhale, allowing us to breathe properly.
Because the inner ear — which controls balance in the body — is now completely developed, your baby may be able to tell when he or she is upside down or right side up while floating and making movements in the amniotic fluid. Also, their hearing is getting more and more precise.
Wow. This week has been hard. Just a lot of stuff going on. A very stressful time. Too stressful really.
It's hard for me to tell how I've been feeling as a result of that, because I've really just been feeling a combination of mad and sad. Plus, I'm still sick! It seems as though I'm never going to get over this junk. Gah!
I've been feeling some more of those pretty intense cramps again since Sunday. It has me slightly worried - most things do worry me though.
Baby movement has been about the same this week. I haven't felt him much today though :/
Also, I didn't want it to be like this, but apparently it's okay for everyone to know the name at this point. Hilariously, Cory has spilled the beans on Facebook already. Weeks ago. I guess he's just telling anyone… or a selective group of "anyone" anyway. No cakes or balloons for this reveal…
Are you ready for it? My precious, sweet little boy's name is:
Nolan Tobias Chamblin
My little Lovebug.
Middle name is pronounced (Tuh-bias).
Guess that's about it for this week. Going back to the OB tomorrow! Only 16 weeks left to go! Geez! I remember so clearly only be 16 weeks pregnant! This is flying by! He'll be here before I know it!
