Early Labor Scare

These past few weeks have been about the most stressful I can ever remember having. It has sucked. The suckiest part is that I know I can't let things bother me so much right now, and even worse that because of hormones everything bothers me more than it should. I have the most important little person growing inside of me. So, I need to  just chill.

I've been having these cramps on and off since about week 16. It was this past Sunday that I noticed they were becoming more intense. They crampy feeling was lasting longer and leaving a lingering pain/soreness behind.

When I went in for my regular checkup on Wednesday, my doctor was concerned with my symptoms. He decided to do the FFN swab on me to check for early labor. He told me that it'd be very reassuring if it were negative and that if it were positive we'd need to take some extra precautions.

I was immediately terrified. I was scared for myself and for my baby. I'm only 24 weeks, it's way too early for any of this.

I left my doctors office at about 4pm and was told I'd be called as soon as the results came in.

I received the call that my test had been positive at about 6pm. I had a small breakdown, which didn't help anything.

I was sent to Labor and Delivery to be monitored. The nurses there were very kind and reassuring. They told me that it's not uncommon to get a false positive.

The baby's heart rate was good, as well as fetal movement. They checked my cervix and it was still closed, so no dilation. Both of those were very comforting. I was having tiny contractions though, so they kept me for a while to see if those would stop on their own - they did.

When nothing escalated beyond that, they decided to let me go home.

I was told to increase my fluid intake and try to relax and rest as much as I could, and to keep an eye on the symptoms and if they returned or worsened to come back in (of course).

Me and Lovebug are okay, God's hand is over us (I know that). But, I can't shake off the worry. The statistics aren't in my favor, I know that when pregnancies have problems like this early on they're on a strong track for preterm labor. I know God doesn't really do the whole statics thing though ;) Just keep us in your thoughts and prayers, please!
