28 Week Checkup

So yesterday I had my OB checkup and my lab for the Glucose test. My doc was still implying concern from my positive FFN, my continue slight cramping, and my lack of consistently feeling baby movement.

He decided to check my cervix again. Apparently it has lowered and is already thinning. He stressed concern with these two things. He's talking about putting me on some kind of medicine for the rest of the pregnancy that basically is suppose to halt labor. He also talked about putting me on a steroid to help mature and advance fetal growth just in case of the even to early labor.

Then, he setup an ultrasound for today.

Fluid around the baby and baby size was all good. He's actually measuring two days small (at 2 pounds, 6 ounces). However, there wasn't much movement. They didn't seem too concerned with this. They said he could just be sleeping. He could be lazy. He could be mellow. Who really knows? His heart rate was fine and they watched him forever today (which was fine with mom) to do some kind of movement check on him. It took a while, but eventually he got all eight things that he needed to do. And they checked for the breathing motions in his diaphragm, which he was doing sporadically and they said this was normal for this point in the pregnancy and that he is at least doing it (which supports the theory that his lungs are developed enough for him to breathe on his own should he need to).

It's all still pretty stressful. To top it off… I had some cramps this afternoon after the ultrasound.

I was absolutely amazed at some of the features we could notice this time in the ultrasounds though! We could like see his little face. Such a precious little face. Round little cheeks and head… and nose! It must be his daddy's little Japanese nose! ;)

It was so much easier to see in the live ultrasound video, but here are his most recent pictures (with some help for the people who have a hard time making them out):
