9 Weeks

About the baby:

In week 9, the tail at the bottom of your baby's spinal cord has shrunk and has almost disappeared. In contrast, your baby's head has been growing — it's quite large compared with the rest of the body and it curves onto the chest. By this week, your baby measures about 0.6 to 0.7 inches (16 to 18 millimeters) from crown to rump and weighs around 2/10ths of an ounce (5.7 grams). The tip of the nose has developed and can be seen in profile, and flaps of skin over the eyes have begun to shape into eyelids. The eyes are formed but will remained shut for many more weeks.

The digestive system continues to develop and internal reproductive features, such as testes and ovaries are in place and start to form this week.

Your baby is starting to move around a lot more as muscles develop. If you had an ultrasound now, those movements would be visible, but you won't be able to feel them for several more weeks.

The nausea is coming and going more often, so at least it isn't as consistent. I had a real rough day with it yesterday though. I finally got some ginger ale (per doctor's suggestion) and started sipping on it. It's hard to tell if it helped, but I guess I did feel some better after that. We'll see if it's consistent.

Yesterday and this morning I've been having some cramps on and off again too. As well as some pain above my belly button again.

I've noticed the last few days especially, I've been extremely irritable.

No major food cravings this week.

I go back in to see OB on Thursday! Wonder what we'll find out at this visit? Hopefully more about that last ultrasound and this terrible bladder pain!

Thankfully, the bladder pain has eased up! Which makes me believe maybe it was just infection after all. Guess we'll see…
