8 Weeks

About the baby:

Marveling over a baby's tiny fingers and toes is one of many joys in the first days of a baby's life. In week 8, those fingers and toes are just beginning to form, and the arms can even flex at the elbows and wrists.

The eyes are becoming more obvious because they’ve begun to develop pigment (color) in the retina (back of the eye).

Also, the intestines are getting longer and there isn’t enough room for them in the baby’s abdomen, so they protrude into the umbilical cord until week 12.

By now, the beginnings of the buds that will develop into your baby's genitals have made their appearance, although they've not yet developed enough to reveal whether your baby is a boy or a girl.

Wow… I'm over half way through the 1st Trimester! Seems crazy considering it's all just starting to sink in. My nausea is at least becoming more sporadic. There were a few days in a row I didn't have any at all! Though, yesterday it sort of returned with a vengeance! :(

Also, in TMI news… this bloating/tummy pressure has kicked it up a notch. Gah! I don't want to take any medicines I don't absolutely have to, so I'm trying to avoid that. I'd read peppermint tea was a good digestive remedy. So I purchased and drank some last night. I guess it did seem to help.

My 25th birthday is tomorrow. Geez, I can't believe I'm 25! We're having my birthday party on Saturday. With all of the family gathered together inconspicuously… ;)  I absolutely cannot wait!

I recently told a friend that with all the hassling we've received over the 6 years of our marriage about babies… there better be screaming, jumping, and fireworks. Ha!
