My first actual appointment with the baby doc was this morning.
It was hilarious though, the hubs was in there and they were going to go ahead and a do another pap on me, so hubs asked if he could leave and I told him no. Bahaha. It was awesome. Hey... he needs to get use to some awkwardness.
Doc was a little worried about my pelvis stuff still. He did my pelvic exam and there was a lot of tenderness and such. He said that sometimes - being very optimistic - when the baby's head cradles into your pelvis bone it can actually realign it. He didn't seem very sure, but he said it was possible. Lol.
I guess the concern there would be to let me labor or not. I'm 100% for laboring. I'd like to avoid a c-section if at all possible.
He pretty much said the cysts are there and there's not much to do about them. Hopefully they won't interfere with the pregnancy - like these crazy cramps all the way through! Sheesh, please no.
He went over a lot of fetal testings with us and told us to talk about it and decide what we'd like to do. I'm fine with all the blood tests, when they take my blood and test the fetal elements within that. However, I just don't think I want any of those other tests, where they take amniotic fluids and/or other things from the sac/cord. What would that do for me anyway? Even if something's wrong, knowing wouldn't do anything. It wouldn't change anything for me. Plus, statistically all of those tests have ridiculously high false positives.
Any thoughts out there in regards to the topic?
Then we pretty much covered all of the dos and don'ts. I found a gentle way to cut him off when he started talking about meat and he breathed a sigh of relief when I told him we were vegetarians and said, "Oh good." Haha. Apparently there's a lengthy discussion pertaining to every kind of fish possible and even local problems with some packaged meats when consuming during pregnancy - not to mention all the ways to safely prepare meat. But, irrelevant for me.
We talked about exercising, which he seems to have mixed feelings about. Clearly exercising is good for you, but he just said to monitor my heart rate closely. When your heart rate increases during pregnancy it decreases blood flow to the umbilical cord. So, just have to be real careful. Also the types of workouts that are safe. Nothing too crazy. Of course, be very aware of your body - noticing dizziness, fatigue, etc. Heck, with all my lung probs I feel all of those things anyway... so what's that mean for me?
And... ultrasound next week to check on fetal growth and sac, etc. Just to be safe.
I was so sad though, they told us when we were brought back to our room that we'd probably get to go hear Lovebug's heartbeat! I was so excited! But, we didn't :( Have to wait one more week, I guess.
