This morning, the reality that my tiny, precious baby has in fact taken up residence in my uterus became a little more real.
We had our 2nd ultrasound today to check fetal growth.
Thankfully it was just a regular ultrasound this time. She squirts out the warm gel onto my lower abdomen and then pushes the little probe and starts moving it around. It only took her seconds to find our precious little Lovebug.
Once she had a good view, she zoomed in and says, "This is the sac. And… right here, that's your baby. And then this right here, is the heart beating" as she points to each thing on the screen while naming it.
For the briefest of moments, while I stared in wonder at the image of my baby in front of me, I thought I was going to be one of those moms who cry at these things. I was in awe.
When I saw that quick, fluttering, black flash that was my baby's heart beat, I about melted into a gooey ball of mush. I love my baby, I've loved my baby since before he/she was conceived. But, the love that I felt when I saw my baby's heart beating isn't something I can describe.
The baby was moving around too! You could see Lovebug just bouncing around in there! Lol. Not big movements, my baby is like the size of a grape and the sac isn't much bigger than that. However, within the space allotted, LB was definitely moving around a bit. How cute!
Oh my goodness, there's a baby in there! My baby! My little Lovebug.
I couldn't gauge my husband's reaction. He was being so still and so quiet, just staring at the monitor. I think he might have been in some state of shock. Maybe a larger portion of reality crashing down on him too.
She said everything looked great! Size is exactly where it should be as was the heart beat!
